Availability of geolocalised data in the robotron*Daphne collection management system

The new release of the robotron*Daphne collection management system includes a standardised interface for the provision of geolocalised data. The idea for the functionality arose from a customer requirement. The pilot customer has currently imported 133 cultural monuments located in public spaces with their location coordinates into the collection database. Further objects are to be added.

To enable consumers to utilise the data, robotron*Daphne provides the objects and their attributes in a flexible internal interface. The event-orientated storage of locations and times in robotron*Daphne provides the basis for a variety of thematic maps.

The new geo-server set up by the Daphne team converts the information provided into a web feature service and publishes it on the Internet. The Web Feature Service is a web interface for geodata and its attributes in a standardised format that can be consumed by any GIS system worldwide.

User authentication for non-public data can of course be set up.
